Two storymap apps

Swipe two bird's eye views

"Saigon, 1951" app allowing to swipe a georeferenced aerial photograph of downtown Saigon in 1951, on a modern basemap (Google Satellite). The 1951 bird's eye view is made of photos taken by the French Air Force.

An interactive Storymap

"Saigon-Cholon au fil de l'eau" is a visual narrative app created for Virtual Saigon as an exhibition of old photos about the Chinese Arroyo, a waterway between Saigon and Cholon. French version available here (English version coming soon).

About Us

The Lyons Institute of East Asian Studies (IAO) is a centre for research in human and social sciences. It brings together scholars from fields such as anthropology, law, economics, geography, history, literature, philosophy and political sciences. The primary focus of their work is East and South-East Asia, especially China, Korea, Japan, Laos, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
